Sat 23rd Feb Whaley Bridge 1 Styal 1; Styal Res 3 Rylands Res 1; Unicorn 4 Styal 'A' 3
Feb 24, 2013, 9:27 am

A good point away at second place Whaley Bridge for the 1st team whilst back at Styal the Reserves turned over Rylands in the Reserve Cup semi final to reach the final where they will play Garswood Res.

Unicorn 4 Styal 'A' 3--Unicorn did the double over Styal and again it was a 4-3 scoreline and again a deciding goal in the dying embers of the game. Unicorn took the lead early on and Styal scored twice with 2 well taken Conor Moore goals to go 2-1 ahead. However, Styal were too generous to the opposition gifting them 2 further goals before half time.

The second half play from Styal was better and generally they had the edge. Gareth Metcalfe scored the best goal of the game after about 60 minutes to draw the game level at 3-3. A cross arrowed across the box by Daine McCormick found Gareth at the back post who teed the ball up with his first touch and volleyed home conclusively. The game became more open in the last 15 minutes as both sides tried to get the winner. Unicorn's winner coming from a corner.

Sat 16th Feb-Denton Town v Styal postponed, waterlogged; Styal Res 2 Poynton Res 1; Deans 3 Styal 'A' 0
Feb 18, 2013, 1:27 pm

With Styal's 1st team called off just prior to kick off it was left to the Reserves to push on and gain another 3 points at home against Poynton.

Deans 3 Styal 'A' 0--Styal 'A' had a much changed team due to so many players being away over half term. Despite the scoreline Styal put in a fine effort creating many chances but for once they just couldn't find the net. Despite playing the 1st half mainly in Deans half it was Deans who came away with a goal from open play and looked threatening from corners and long throw ins. The second half followed a similar trend with wave after wave of Styal pressure. Ben Gransmore and matt West had Deans defence in knots but never managed to get a clean strike at goal. After 65 minutes Sam Jackson hit the bar for Styal from outside the box and with the net rippling it looked like the ball had crossed the line. Even after this Styal continued getting the ball into the box but missed hitting the back of the net.

As the game went on Deans started finding more space and 2 similar goals from set pieces finally put paid to Styal's great effort with a much changed line up.

Feb 3, 2013, 11:09 am

Styal 'A' started well scoring 2 early goals through Darren Fluery and Conor Moore and had more chances to kill the game off in the first 20 minutes. Old Alts pulled one back by half time setting the game up for a good second half.

Styal's defence stood strong as Old Alts played some good football and it always looked like another goal would come. It was Styal that finally got the goal with only a couple of minutes left to play when Matt West got through on goal and slotted the ball home.

Sat 12th January Grappenhall 2 Styal 1; Styal Res 3 Garswood Utd Res 3; Moorlands 5 Styal 'A' 5
Jan 13, 2013, 4:42 pm

Styal 'A's match against Moorlands was a real see saw affair with a very open game and lots of chances. The lead kept changing and when Matt West scored late on to make it 5-4 it looked like Styal finally had the win nailed. However, Moorlands rallied and managed to head home a cross in the dying embers of the match to get a draw and what was probably a fair result for both teams. Matt West (2), Elliot Abedian (2) and Gaz Metcalfe scored the Styal goals.
