The 'A' team is also off. Hopefully the Reserves fixture away at Rylands will go ahead. Dec 9, 2012, 10:15 am Styal 'A' 3 Unicorn 4---Styal paid for a poor start and poor finish as they missed out on the points against a competitive Unicorn side. 2 early defensive lapses saw Unicorn take an early 2-0 lead but Sam Jackson with a swerving free kick and Matt Cook with right footed shot from outside the box meant Styal came in level at half time. Styal dominated the possession and territory at the start of the second half and midway through the half their 3rd goal came when Sam Jackson created a goal finsished off by Adam Houldsworth. However, Unicorn didn't give in and Styal were the team on the backfoot as the game went on. Unicorns equaliser to bring it back to 3-3 seemed to spur Unicorn on and with the last kick of the game it was Unicorn that secured the win. Nov 25, 2012, 12:56 pm With the first team home fixture called off the reserves and ‘A’ team both had good victories. Styal ‘A’ 4 Cheadle Hulme 0 Styal managed to do the double over league leaders Cheadle Hulme with a top drawer performance. Looking solid throughout it was a finishing masterclass by Tom Marsden as he notched a superb hat trick. Despite Styal’s first half pressure, the shots on goal weren’t forthcoming until Marsden skipped around 2 or 3 players and then placed a left footed shot from outside the box into the Cheadle goal. Styal went into the second half continuing to defend well and building attacks. Adam Houldsworth set up Marsden’s second as he found Marsden’s run into the box with the perfect pass and Marsden fired home. With 3 left sided defenders on the bench, the decision was taken to introduce them all with 20 minutes to go and reshape the team. They all contributed well in different positions and Sam Jackson who had just come on volleyed home a third to effectively finish the game off. With 5 minutes to go Tom Marsden again timed a run beyond the Cheadle back 4 and lobbed the Cheadle keeper to get his 3rd. Nov 10, 2012, 6:14 pm A good win for the first team at home. The reserves away at Denton was postponed (waterlogged). Styal 'A' put 5 past APFC with 2 from Adam Houldsworth. Gareth Metcalfe, Matt Cook and Conor Moore also scored. Nov 9, 2012, 8:54 am A great win for Styal Res last weekend. Meanwhile Styal 'A' bowed out of the Altrincham Cup as Sale Moor who are a division above them scored 4 penalties. It was a tighter game than the scoreline suggests but Sale Moor scored 3 in the last 20 minutes making the difference. |
